Ditch The Grocery Store Web App

My Role
I consulted as a UX researcher and designer, participating in all aspects of strategy, research, synthesis, ideation, design, and validation.

Strategy
Define the business model and goals through research and validation, as well as understand user needs/pain points, and technology constraints to make an application that would remove the manual aspect of grocery shopping.

Research
Discovery through research with user interviews, competitive and comparative analysis, journey mapping, and survey responses.

Insights
User interviews provided incite into a problem that many users suffer from, a busy lifestyle. Users wanted to be able to cook healthy meals but found that searching for recipes, writing up a grocery shopping list, and then going to the store was taking up a lot of their time. Subscription boxes, while useful, were expensive and only provided enough ingredients for one meal.

Problem Solving
In order to give the user a fast and seamless food shopping experience, I recommended that a set of recipes were delivered to their account weekly (based on food preferences dietary restrictions), with a customizable shopping list that could be sent to their grocery store or online food delivery service of choice with the option for in-store pick up or home delivery. Connectivity with a smart oven would be an additional option for version 2.0.

Execution & Validation
After synthesising the data we validated our finding through an additional round of user interviews. Incites were turned into wireframes that were again validated through usability testing.
